Dinner Show Benefit Concert
Aloha, my name is Kai Magdirila and I am traveling to Aotearoa in May. We have fund raised by putting together a Dinner Show Benefit Concert with a famous local entertainer  Darren Benitez  a well known singer in Hawai'i . Na Pua Ho'oheno, Awapuhimele Napoleon-O'Brien and Po'okela Napoleon sang for us while dinner was being served. We, the students of 'O Hina i Ka Malama, Ke Kula Waena, Moloka'i Middle school sang various mele (music) and hula pertaining to Malama Honua, World Wide Voyage for the Hokule'a and Hikianali'a.  We served dinner that night, our menu included Roast Beef with gravy, Chicken Alfredo, Rice, Baked seasoned potato, hot mixed vegetables, and 'ono dessert served with a side of fruits.

We were able to raise a good amount of money to help with our travel.  There were many positive feedback regarding our Benefit concert, "...it was a good dinner show and more donated to our travel that night! We will continue the effort of fundraising to meet our goal.  If you are interested in donating please visit our GoFundMe website:  gofund.me/bkr118

Aloha, I didn't attend the benefit concert but I heard it was really good. I would like to share my thoughts of the World Wide Voyage, of Hokulea and Hikianalia and it's purpose of the travel.  The Hokule'a voyage is long and there will be several places and countries it will visit.  It is a four year journey and the places it visits will be interesting.

The Hokule'a will be traveling for 4 years on a double haul canoe with a manual steering.  Members of the crew will need to live in small quarters and work together.

My class will be traveling to Aotearoa February 4th through the 19th.  They will be sharing our culture with our Maori cousins.  Their stay is for 14 days.  Hope their trip will be safe and have fun.

Benefit Dinner Show Concert

On Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at the Moloka'i Community Health Center (Old Pau Hana) the 'O Hina I Ka Malama, Moloka'i Middle School presented a Benefit Dinner show Concert. Our featured artist was Darren Benitez, other entertainers Moloka'i's own Na Pua Ho'oheno, and also the students of 'O Hina I Ka Malama. The benefit concert was very good, we were able to raise funds to help with the cost of our tip to Aotearoa,

The benefit concert was held during the night at our the famous Banyan Tree at our old Pau Hana Inn, currently the Moloka'i Community Health Center. The Aotearoa trip is for the 'O Hina I Ka Malama students to meet up with the Hokule'a and to share our culture with the Maori people.

In conclusion the benefit concert overall was good.   My favorite part was performing and enjoying the dinner. The dinner included a garden salad, rice, mashed potato, roast beef, chicken alfredo, and dessert. Mahalo for supporting 'O Hina I Ka Malama, Moloka'i Middle School, Hawaiian Language Immersion Program.
